Lady Bison win Thursday's Lex JV Invite
LEXINGTON, Neb. -- The McCook junior varsity girls tennis team swept all honors at Thursday’s Lexington JV Invite.
All four of the Lady Bison’s entries finished first in their divisions to lead McCook to a comfortable team title.
“It was a great day on the courts by the girls and nice weather as well,” remarked head coach Matt Wiemers. “We saw a lot of good things by the girls, but we also saw some areas we need to continue to improve in.”
Kori Uerling went undefeated in No. 1 singles and faced little resistance. She gave up one point in three of her matches and only two in the other two.
Macy Hill placed first in No. 2 singles by going 4-1. Her only loss was a tight 7-6 (8-6) loss to Holdrege’s Weed.
McCook’s No. 1 doubles team of Kylee Hauxwell and Rylee Mooney went 4-1. Their lone loss was also to Holdrege in a 6-4 decision.
Rounding out McCook’s day was Jadie Stevens and Megan Hodgson at No. 2 doubles. That pair went unbeaten in their five matches.
As a team, McCook scored 54 points. Runner-up Kearney Catholic was a distant second with 40 points, while Holdrege was third with 32.
