Girls wrestle to national title with Trojan trio

DES MOINES, Iowa. — The Nebraska Girls HS AAU Wrestling Team competed on Friday in the Twin River National Wrestling Tournamen.

Nebraka defeated Team Missouri 66-6, Team Iowa 53-18 and Team Montana 47-24 to claim the National crown as back to back National Champions.

The team is as follows:

97 pounds: Paige Sickels from Cambridge

102: Brisa Figueroa from West Point

108: Autumn Branson from Fairbury

114: Paige Denke from Chadron

120: Katy Figueroa from West Point

126: Marissa Burt from Tekamah Herman

132: Jerzie Menke from Bridgeport

132: Carla Chacon from Schuyler

140: Kaelie Tomlin from Cambridge

150: Brithany Cervantes from West Point

150: Aubri Ross from Cambridge

187: Estefania Barragan from West Point

187: Zeriah George from Winnebago

Heavyweight: Janae Doxey from Winnebago

Of these girls, six were crowned National Champions on Saturday in the National Open Tournament.

They were Autumn Branson, Katy Figueroa, Jerzie Menke, Brithany Cervantes, Janae Doxey and Kaelie Tomlin repeated to accomplish a back to back National Championship. Coaches were Les Painter of Cambridge, Ray Maxwell of West Point and Sonya Legate of Wayne.
