Roughriders compete at Hershey/St. Pat's Invite

HERSHEY, Neb. -- Southwest medaled in nine events at Saturday’s Hershey/St. Patrick’s Invite at Hershey High School. The Roughriders made finals in seven boys events and two girls events.

On the boys’ side, Southwest was led by Derek Greenlee. Greenlee highlighted the Roughriders’ day by winning the high jump with a mark of 6-1, beating out North Platte St. Pat’s Ethan Munson by an inch for first place.

Greenlee added to his day by finishing second in the triple jump with a mark of 41-4 and third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.69 seconds.

Logan Greenlee finished third in the long jump with a mark of 20-1 and fourth in pole vault with a mark of 12-6, while Kaden Guerrero took sixth in pole vault with 12-0.

The ‘Riders also placed fifth in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 4:02.79. Running for Southwest in the event was Guerrero, Devin Carfield, Blake Williams and Patrick Sughroue.

On the girls’ side, Southwest got two medal-winning performances from Nicole Dewey.

Dewey finished third in the long jump with a mark of 15-3 and also finished fifth in high jump with a mark of 4-8.

Arapahoe's North wins two-mile run Saturday

WILCOX, Neb. -- Joslyn North’s win in the girls’ two-mile race highlighted Arapahoe’s outing at Saturday’s Wilcox-Hildreth Invite.

North was the lone Warrior to win an event. She took the two-mile run with a time of 13:55.9.

As a team, the Lady Warriors finished ninth in team scoring with 22 points. Giltner claimed the girls’ team title with 113 points.

On the boys’ side, Arapahoe finished seventh with 31.5 points. Axtell dominated the meet with 151 points, while Giltner was a distant second with 67 points.
