KEARNEY, Neb. — Running laps almost seemed llike a blast considering how fast Maywood-Hayes Center girls circled the UNK Indoor track on Saturday.

No B or C runner finished one mile faster than senior Kayla Minary, whose all-time best effort of 6:10.46 earned the championship.

Minary led the Wolves into a top five team place ahead of 16 squads entered into this traditional season opener.

The Wolves tallied 32 points to finish behind only Pleasanton (74), North Central (48),m Bertrand (42) and Ansley-Litchfield (39).

Distance runners joined returning state qualifier Minary in delivering other top M-HC places.

The 1600 and 3200-meter relays reached top three with Minary running legs on both quartets.

Avery Johnson, Jaycee Widener, Jayden Widener, Jaycee Lapp and senior Grace Koubek were other Wolves who contributed to those high places.
