Highway 6-34 work set to begin between Indianola and Cambridge
McCOOK, Neb. ó Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin March 26 on US-6/34 from the east edge of Indianola to the east edge of Cambridge, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Paulsen Inc. of Cozad, Nebraska has the $8,804,623.28 contract. Work will include concrete patching, bridge replacement, asphalt overlay, culvert extensions, curb repair, curb ramps and pavement markings. This project will be constructed over two years and is planned to be completed by November 2019.
During the first year of construction, the project will consist of replacing the bridges at Dry Creek, Richmond Creek, and Republican River Tributary with box culverts and replacing the bridge at Stevenson Canyon Creek with a new bridge. The traffic at these locations will be reduced to one lane and controlled with temporary traffic signals. There will also be culvert work along with sidewalk replacement and curb repair in Cambridge. This work is planned to be completed by December 2018.
The second year of construction is anticipated to begin in early spring of 2019. It will include concrete pavement repairs, an asphalt overlay, and pavement marking.
