McCook’s relays keep hitting faster times and gaining momentum as they move toward next week’s Nebraska State Championship Swim Meet.

The record-setting Bison 200-medley relay did it again on Saturday with a time of 1:59.21 — breaking their previous mark (1:59.27) set during last week’s home finale.

Senior Shane Coleman joined juniors Laurel Schmidt, Becca Tietz and Mollie Tate in earning a top three GNAC place — showing just how tough their competition was Saturday in Kearney.

Norfolk took the championship at 1:52.06 while easily capturing overall GNAC honors over Kearney, 321-207.

McCook scored 113 points with the 200-freestyle relay earning their highest place of second.

The same four girls — Tate, Tietz, Schmidt and Coleman — swam a faster time than last week (1:46.47) to finish behind only Norfolk again (1:42.07).

McCook’s other leaders included Coleman (second, 100-butterfly), Schmidt (fourth, 50-freestyle and a 400-freestyle relay (fourth).

Senior state qualifier Syd Wier led the McCook boys as his diving effort earned second place with 334.4 points.

Again, a Bison looked up only to an amazing championship effort from Kearney diver Michael Huebner (464 points).

McCook’s other top placing efforts were the 200 and 400-freestyle relays both finishing seventh.

The Bison now get ready for their Nebraska state meet where eight had qualified as of last week.
