Atwood disbands chamber of commerce
ATWOOD, Kan. — The board of directors of the chamber of commerce in Atwood voted Jan. 29 to disband its organization as of March 31.
The Rawlins County Square Deal newspaper reports that the board’s unanimous decision to discontinue the chamber is the result of dropping membership, inadequate funds and decreasing interest.
The chamber had 56 members in 2016, 43 members in 2017 and 19 in 2018.
Chamber members hope to find organizations and/or individuals to take over annual activities and the sound system and music that plays throughout the downtown neighborhood.
