AINSWORTH, Neb. -- Just 11 days after a 58-54 loss to the Bulldogs, McCook returned to Ainsworth and recorded a 75-47 win on Saturday.

The Bison started Saturday’s game with a strong first quarter to take an 18-6 lead.

Ainsworth cut McCook’s lead to 25-18 following the Bulldogs’ fourth 3-pointer of the half, but McCook would go on a 12-2 run to take a 37-20 edge heading into halftime.

The host Bulldogs brought plenty of bark in the third quarter, as they outscored McCook 18-10 to cut the Bison advantage to 47-38 heading into the fourth period.

McCook, however, would outscore Ainsworth 28-9 in the final quarter and scored the final seven points of the game to prevent any comeback.

Hunter Potthoff scored a game-high 18 points for McCook (9-10 record), including 11 in the first half. Morgan Fawver had 13 points, while Clayton Stevens also reached double figures with 10.

DJ Gross was next in line with eight points for the Bison, followed by Hunter Hays and Zach Schlager each scoring seven.

Ainsworth (9-10) was led by Grant Stec’s 13 points. Gage Delimont was held to 12 points, while Peyton Allen hit 10.

Up next for McCook will be the East-West Shootout. The Bison travel to the Nebraska panhandle this year and open with a game at Gering on Thursday.
