CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — Robert (Bob) Clark Andrews, 85, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 2018) at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

He was born on March 9, 1932, to Donald C. and Nina (Baker) Andrews on the family farm southwest of Holbrook. Bob grew up on the family farm with his three brothers and one sister. Bob attended country school at District 88 through eighth grade. He graduated from Holbrook High School in 1949. After attending the University of Nebraska for one year, Bob returned to the Holbrook area and began his lifelong farming occupation. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 in Washington State during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, Bob returned again to Holbrook to continue farming.

He married Connie Sayer on April 7, 1956, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cambridge, Neb. To this union five children were born. Bob was a lifelong farmer in the Holbrook area. He served on the boards of the Holbrook, Edison, and Cambridge Co-Ops. He was a member of the Holbrook Lion’s Club, the Holbrook School Board and was a 4-H leader. Bob was a dedicated blood donor, and in his lifetime he donated 20 gallons of blood. Bob served on the Frenchman Cambridge Irrigation District board of directors. For his steadfast representation of irrigation interests, Bob was honored with the Headgate Award at the 2005 Four States Irrigation Council conference.

Bob is survived by his five children, Diane (Jeff) Schultz of Cambridge, Clark (Dawn) Andrews of Holbrook, Barbara (Dean) Neels of Dunbar, Neb., Marilyn (Waid) Zysset of Hastings, and Keith Andrews of Cambridge; grandchildren, Brian (Brea) Schultz, Katie (Max) Funkey, Alexandra (Josh) Beck, Ellen Neels and fiancé, Joe Brinkman, Andy Neels and fiancé, Amanda Peters, Kevin Schultz, Spencer (Jennifer) Zysset, Emily (Ryan) Grealish, William Neels, Brandon, Jared, Seth and Abby Andrews; and three great-grandchildren, James Beck and Lily and Carl Zysset.

Bob is also survived by brother, Roger (June) Andrews; sister, Mary McPhee; and in-laws, Lucetta Andrews, Marianne and Paul Weber and Cheryl Sayer; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 48 years, Connie (2004); and brothers, Donald Andrews and Richard Andrews; in-laws, Jan Andrews, Ron McPhee, Pat Sayer, Sandy Hegarty, Jerry Sayer, and Jackie and Donald Scott; and nephews, Norman Andrews and Shane Weber.

Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at 10:30 am at St. John’s Catholic Church in Cambridge with Rev. Kenneth Wehrs officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Cambridge.

Rosary is Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at 7 p.m. at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge. Visitation will be from 10 a.m., until after rosary.

Memorial suggestions are to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cambridge or the Tri Valley Medical Foundation. Blood donations in memory of Robert Andrews are also greatly encouraged.
