Laramie takes two from MCC
CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The Laramie County Community College men evened the season slate with McCook Community College Wednesday night with a 98-85 win at home.
The Eagles shot 52 percent from the floor for the game, connected on nine of 26 from the 3-point line (34.6 percent) and 19 of 25 free throw shots (76.0 percent). After committing eight first-half turnovers the Eagles had two in the second half. MCC had 13 on the night.
D’Von Moore (Statesboro, Ga.) led MCC offensively with 16 points.
Kairee Forte (Concord, N.C.) had 15 points, Chuol Biel (Grand Island) had 12 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Chinedu Okonkwo (Nigeria) had eight rebounds and nine points.
The Indians shot 48 percent from the floor, made five of 18 three-point shots (27.8 percent) and just eight of 18 shots from the foul line (53.3 percent).
Both teams ended the game with 39 rebounds.
LCCC improves to 12-11 and 5-5 in Region IX South Play
The Indians -- who beat LCCC 68-57 at home Dec. 2 -- fall to 13-6 and 3-5 in Region IX South Play.
Women fall short
The McCook Community College Lady Indians played a tight road game Wednesday but came up on the short end of an 80-69 score.
MCC had the chance to tie the game with just under four minutes left in the game but the Lady Eagles made the decisive run down the stretch.
“Tonight was one of our better games and it was a great back-and-forth game with Laramie County,” MCC Coach Kellen Fernetti said.
Aliyah Foote (Lawrenceville, Ga.) paced the way with 29 points. Sam Hinkle, (Rifle, Colo.) and Brook Jamison (Hyannis) each had 10 points.Grace Wellman (had nine points and seven rebounds.
