Twila (Trudy) L. Nelson

WESTMINSTER, Colo. - Twila (Trudy) L. Nelson passed in peace at 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 16, 2018, at the Greenridge Place in Westminster.

After graduating from school in Imperial, Neb., she move to McCook, Neb., with the help of her two sisters, and worked at Modrell's Cafe for the next 20 years until Modrellís closed.

She met and married Dare Nelson in 1943, which they had one son, Gary Nelson.

Twila was well known for working in the retail shops such as Geiharts, The Teddy Bear Shop and others before retiring.

She was a member of the Easter Lily Lodge, the Burlington Veterans Auxiliary and the Burlington Railroaders Wives.

She spent several years working for the election board and was on the board of the Heritage Senior Center.

Previous passing her were her mother and father; five sisters; one brother; her husband, Dare Nelson; and dear friend, Tom Kiplinger.

She is survived by her son, Gary Nelson and daughter-in-law, Peggy Nelson, both of Brighton, Colo.; two granddaughters, Tammy Spencer and husband, Kent and Dee Osborne and husband, Mike; two grandsons, Gary Jr. and wife, Katie and Jeff and wife, Shelby; along with seven great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters, one great-great-grandson and one great-great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. to greet friends.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, Jan. 23, 10 a.m. at the Hermann-Jones Funeral Chapel with Johnny Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook.
