Adam Lawrence Miller

Jan. 30, 1986 - Jan. 14, 2018

NEW ALMELO, Kan. — Adam Lawrence Miller, son of Lawrence "Larry" and Mary (Nauer) Miller, was born Jan. 30, 1986, at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin. He passed away at his rural home near New Almelo on Jan. 14, 2018, at the age of 31.

Adam and his younger brother were raised on the family farm six miles southeast of Dresden. He graduated from Jennings High School in 2004 and completed the lineman program at Dodge City Community College. Adam's family were members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville. As a youth, Adam was active in CYO, served as a CYO counselor, was an altar server for Mass, and was involved in Boy Scouts and 4-H.

After his schooling was finished, Adam lived in Albuquerque, N.M., for a time before moving to Manhattan, Kan. He worked for a garage door company for a few years, then he and a friend started their own company, All American Garage Door Company. They installed and maintained electronic garage doors throughout the Manhattan area. Recently, Adam worked as a truck driver for PSI Transport, a trucking company based in Hoxie.

Faith and family were important to Adam. He read the Bible regularly and enjoyed being with his family. Adam liked to fish, trap shoot and listen to music, especially Chris LeDoux, Merle Haggard and Don Williams. Spending time with his brother was very important to him.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Mary Miller of Dresden; brother, Brian Miller of Hoxie (girlfriend, Sarah Culver, Orleans, Neb.); uncles and aunts, Kathleen and Francis Britton, Patricia Van Horn, Greg and Marie Miller, Paul and Kathy Nauer, Paula Nauer and Julie and Roy Kidder; double cousins, Russell Miller (Kelsey) and children, Olivia and Parker and Ryan Miller (Kelly) and children, Daisy and Bo; cousins, Morgan Kidder, Tony Britton, Becky Britton and Andrea Tidwell (Ty) and children, Angelica and Landon; in addition to many other relatives and friends.

Adam was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilfred and Betty Miller and Paul M. and Louise Nauer; and infant cousin, Mckenna Britton.

A vigil service was Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at 6 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville. Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at the church in Leoville with Rev. Mark Berland officiating. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Leoville.
