The 2018 Southwest Conference basketball tournament brackets were released Monday. McCook will be hosting one first round game.
The Lady Bison are seeded No. 4 on the girls' side and will take on No. 5 Minden next Tuesday, Jan. 23, at McCook Senior High at 6 p.m.
The Lady Bison and Lady Whippets will meet for the second time in just over one week. McCook defeated Minden on Saturday, Jan. 13, with a 42-36 win in Kearney County.
Gothenburg is the top seed in the girls' bracket with a 40.462 wildcard average. The Lady Swedes will take on No. 8 Ainsworth in the first round. Other first round matchups include No. 7 Cozad at No. 2 Ogallala and No. 6 Valentine at No. 3 Broken Bow.
On the boys' side, McCook is seeded No. 6 and will travel to take on No. 3 Ainsworth next Monday, Jan. 22.
According to NSAA archives, Ainsworth has not played a Class B opponent since playing Cozad on Jan. 14, 2012. The Bulldogs are currently 5-7, as of Monday, Jan. 15, at 5:30 p.m.
Cozad is the top seed in the boys' bracket with a 45.231 wildcard average. The Haymakers will host No. 8 Valentine on Tuesday. Other first round matchups include No. 2 Broken Bow hosting No. 7 Gothenburg and No. 4 Minden hosting No. 5 Ogallala.
Defending SWC champions are the Minden girls (65-32 over Cozad in 2017) and the Broken Bow boys (40-38 over Gothenburg).
