'Riders, Warriors and Trojans triumph

BARTLEY, Neb. — A super 1-2 Southwest duo punched out the Elwood Pirates, 62-45, Saturday evening.

Junior Blake Williams scored 18 points and senior Logan Greenlee added 16 as the Roughriders (5-3 record) regained momentum entering 2018.

Senior Derek Greenlee also reached double figures with 11 points.

Junior Grant Slater stepped up to add five points while junior Dylan Hofman and sophomore Bryan Leslie both added four.

Warriors win

WAUNETA, Neb. — The Arapahoe Warriors bring a 7-3 record into 2018 after beating Wauneta-Palisade, 61-49, Friday night.

Senior Spencer Watson’s 19 points powered the Warriors while another 25 came from the combo of senior Jacob Eichenberger (13 points) and junior Yordi Gutierrez (12).

The Warriors took charge during their second quarter when they stretched a 16-15 lead to 35-25 by halftime.

Gutierrez delivered nine assists besides hitting five of his seven field-goal attempts.

No individual stats were obtained for Wauneta-Palisade as the Broncos slipped to 6-3.

Trojans triumph

HERSHEY, Neb. — A 55-46 win at Hershey on Friday means the Cambridge boys are 6-2 entering 2018. They invade Barley to play rival Southwest Friday night.

Longhorns fall

SIDNEY, Neb. — The Chase County Longhorns dropped their Cabela’s Shootout finale, 66-58, to Torrington, Wyo., on Saturday. Chase (1-7 record) featured three top scorers in juniors Braden Space (15 points),Parker Dillan (13) and freshman Cedrick Maxwell (13).

They visit Dundy County-Stratton tonight.
