LINCOLN, Neb. -- Three McCook Lady Bison were selected for the Nebraska Coaches Association all-star softball and volleyball games to be played in 2018. Selections include Riley Sis in girls’ volleyball and Shayne Coleman and Emily Jacobs in softball.

Sis was chosen as an outside hitter for the 35th annual NCA girls’ volleyball match, which will take place Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Lincoln North Star. The McCook senior was one of 28 Nebraska high school seniors chosen to take part in the all-star match.

Sis finished her McCook volleyball career with a team-leading 283 kills on .256 hitting as a senior.

She also recorded 103 digs, 37 ace serves and 23 blocks. Sis helped lead McCook to a 24-11 record, which included a sub-district championship and an appearance in the Class B district finals.

Sami Mauch of North Platte and Bailee Sterling of Kearney High were the only other players from the GNAC or Southwest Conference selected to participate in the girls’ volleyball match. Briana Janda of Elkhorn South and Laura Miller of North Platte will be the head coaches for the two all-star squads.

Coleman and Jacobs were selected for the 14th annual NCA all-star softball game will take place Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Bowling Field.

The Lady Bison duo were two of 30 Nebraska high school seniors chosen to play in the all-star game.

They helped power McCook to a district title and Class B state tournament upset of No. 1-ranked Elkhorn South this fall.

Fellow GNAC and Southwest Conference selections include Jennifer Boeve of Hastings High and Avery Wood of Kearney High. In addition, HaLea Messersmith of Cozad will be an assistant coach.

From the NCA website: “Every member coach has the opportunity to nominate deserving senior student-athlete(s). Once all nominations are received, an evaluation form, which includes both career and senior season statistics are sent to all member coaches. Coaches rate the players they have seen on all-star potential and attitude. The goal: players selected will represent the best student-athletes in all parts of the state, as well as representing the sport and themselves in a positive manner.”
