Colorodans deal DC-S girls first defeat
WRAY, Colo. — They conquered a Kansas road trip last week, but Colorado did not agree with Dundy County-Stratton’s girls as Wray won 48-41 Tuesday evening.
Coach Nathan Behlke’s Tigers (8-1 record) had been the last unbeaten Gazette-area varsity basketball team.
They took an 8-5 lead through one quarter — a far better start than one week earlier at Rawlins County, Kan., when DC-S fell behind by 10 before halftime.
However, a 16-4 Wray second quarter made it 21-12 entering intermission.
The Eagles (4-2 record) stayed in front, 34-26, through three and held off any Tiger comeback attempts.
DC-S boys (7-2) did deliver a 68-56 victory over their Colorado hosts. They shook off a tough 70-66 defeat at Perkins County Saturday night.
No individual stats were obtained from either contest at Wray.
The Tigers will try to capture one more pre-Christmas victory when Wauneta-Palisade visits Benkelman on Thursday.
