Who's who?

Mike Towery of McCook found this collection of photographs and paper memorabilia tucked in a very worn U.S. Navy leather wallet in a box he bought at an auction on the Red Willow County Fairgrounds in McCook in the fall. In the coin pocket of the wallet is a “Rapid Transit” token dated possibly 1924. The photograph in the center is dated July 16, 1943, in handwriting on the back. Note that the sailor paid 25 cents plus 6 cents tax for six dances at the Majestic Ballroom at 249 W. Pike in Long Beach, Calif. It appears that the page of Japanese or Chinese writing may have been torn from a book.
