Tiger girls reach 8-0 with two wins

GRANT, Neb. — A team truly is dominated when nearly as many players score points as the other team’s TOTAL points.

The unbeaten Dundy County-Stratton girls didn’t quite reach that feat Saturday night, but 12 Tigers did hit shots in a 65-16 pummeling of Perkins County.

Junior Grace Frederick actually only needed one more basket to tie the hosts, 16-16.

She scored 14 for the only double-digit Tiger scorer.

Yet coach Nathan Behlke’s girls shot 49 percent overall with junior Adeline Krutsinger and sophomore Sable Lambley adding eight points each.

Senior Allie Behlke tallied seven while hitting three of four field goals. Her last three-pointer on Tuesday capped a 53-50 comeback win at Rawlins County, Kan.

On Friday, the Tigers took charge with a 19-5 first quarter and went on to beat visiting St. Francis, Kan., 52-40.

Krutsinger’s 19 points paced the attack while Behlke put in 13. She shot three for six from three-point range.

Frederick added eight points.

The Tigers stopped any comebacks thanks partly to six blocked shots. Krutsinger swatted three, Frederick two and Kelcie Burke one.
