McCOOK, Neb. — A plea agreement was reached earlier this month in Red Willow County District Court with a Cambridge woman facing felony charges in three separate criminal cases, as well as probation violations stemming from a previous conviction. The woman, 47-year-old Lisa D. Kershaw, was subsequently scheduled for sentencing at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 8, 2018.

Across the three criminal cases Kershaw will face sentencing on a Class IV felony for possession of methamphetamine, a Class I misdemeanor for attempted possession of meth, an infraction for possession of drug paraphernalia, and a Class 3 misdemeanor for reckless driving, in addition to probation violations related to a 2016 conviction for attempted possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The plea agreement admitted guilt to a Class 3 misdemeanor for reckless driving and an infraction for possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from Kershaw’s arrest on April 27, 2016, at 4:31 p.m. on Lemon Street in Bartley. According to court documents, the arrest originally led to charges alleging felony possession of meth, driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The second criminal case stemmed from Kershaw’s arrest on Dec. 30, 2016, and the plea agreement admitted guilt to felony meth possession while dismissing a Class IV felony alleging possession of money used to facilitate a violation and lesser charges alleging possession of drug paraphernalia and no insurance.

The third criminal case against Kershaw stemmed from a third arrest on March 17, 2017, at 4:03 p.m. following a shoplifting report from Orscheln’s Farm & Home in McCook. Kershaw was originally charged with a Class IV felony alleging possession of meth and an infraction alleging possession of drug paraphernalia. The plea agreement reduced the felony to a misdemeanor for attempted possession and dismissed the paraphernalia infraction.

Kershaw’s probation violations stem from the December 2016 arrest and testing positive for meth use, as well as admitting to using meth, on Nov. 23, 2016.

Other activity in Red Willow County District Court, Nov. 6, 2017:

* A local sex offender pleaded not guilty to a Class 3A felony alleging he violated the sex offender registry act. The man, 38-year-old Zachary Paul Shepherd of McCook, was subsequently scheduled for a motions hearing at 9 a.m. on Dec. 4, 2017.

Shepherd also denied probation violation allegations stemming from a February conviction on a Class 3A felony for violating the sex offender registration act. He was sentenced to 36 months probation on that conviction.

The violations stem from pending charges in Red Willow County for driving on a suspended license and speeding, as well as failing to report for drug testing and not meeting other probation requirements, according to court documents.
