Motivation works for Big Give

Friday, November 17, 2017
St. Patrick Elementary Principal Becky Redl screams as the last of the slime is dumped on her by 8th grader Tayler O’Dell. Mrs. Redl offered to be slimed if 100 people donated to St. Pat’s during Big Give McCook last week - and that motivation worked with 107 donations for new textbooks.

  • First thanks to all who donated. Next, although the total amount was very generous it is very disappointing that only 678 folks donated in a county of over 10,000 people. That is a shame as my guess is that most folks, their family or friends, in our area have benefited from one or more of the agencies seeking funds. Item three, the power hour was not followed by several of the power hour stations...not good. Lastly, organizations with staff devoted full or part time to fund raising should be excluded in the future as those donations took funds from organizations that live basically hand to mouth. Again thanks to all who gave and to all that worked on the Big Give.

  • Oh, and why is it ok to publically demean those in authority by sliming them, pie in the face, dumping them in a water tank....then tell children we should not bully others?
