No. 1 Trojans sweep Eagles from state

The Southern Valley Eagles rally around coach Jessi Thalheim as they took on undefeated No. 1 Hartington Cedar Catholic in Thursday’s Class C-2 state tournament opening round at Lincoln Southwest High School. The Trojans prevailed in three sets 25-16, 25-12 and 25-14. Sophomore Lauryn Samuelson's eight kills led the Warriors along with four each from seniors HalLee Linner and Cassie Bose. Sophomore Mandy Schoen made eight digs and classmate Grace Hogeland added five. The Eagles finish 26-6 after winning their repeating as district champions and advancing to state.
