Opal Nadine (Williams) Moody

McCOOK, Neb. — Opal Nadine (Williams) Moody, age 91, passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2017, at Community Hospital of McCook.

Nadine was born Oct. 18, 1926, to John and Nellie (Fix) Williams in Logan, Kan.

They moved to Beloit, Kan., where she graduated from Beloit High School in 1944. After her mother passed away and her father moved to California, she moved to Holdrege, Neb., where her aunt and uncle lived. While there, she met and married Jerry Moody on Oct. 7, 1951, and moved to Central City, Neb.

To this union three sons were born, Greg, Mitch and Brad. With Jerry’s job at Safeway, they lived in Lexington, Neb., and returned to McCook.

Nadine was a member of the Eastern Star in Holdrege. She held several jobs in McCook before she and Jerry bought the Red Horse and Royal Motels. She loved working crossword puzzles and later in life, word search puzzles.

Nadine was preceded in death by her mother and father; two brothers, Harold Williams and Denzil Williams; one sister, Darlene Smith, her husband, Jerry in 2007; and grandson, Todd Moody.

She is survived by sons, Greg (Cindy) of McCook, Mitch (Fiona) of Omaha, Neb., and Brad of McCook; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of First Congregational Church. Memorials may be given to the church, 212 East E St., McCook, NE 69001.
