Wednesday, October 18, 2017
11th Judicial District Judge David W. Urbom swears in the “officers” of the 70th annual “Cornhusker Boys’ and Girls’ County Government Day” Wednesday in the Red Willow County Courthouse in McCook. Juniors from McCook and Southwest high schools toured the offices of elected and appointed county officials and visited the Sen. George W. Norris State Historical Site.

In the sheriff’s office, Isaac Hegwood of MHS, wearing goggles that simulate alcohol intoxication, wobbled off the straight and narrow and failed the “field sobriety test” conducted by sheriff’s deputy Sgt. Steve Kotschwar. County government day is sponsored by the American Legion posts and auxiliaries of McCook, Bartley, Danbury, Indianola and Lebanon.
