GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Gene Willard Rodenbeck of Goldsboro died Sept. 15, 2017.

He was born Jan. 22, 1931, to August Rodenbeck and Gertrude Huxoll Rodenbeck in Arapahoe, Neb.

He served during the Korean War, where he was the ship’s serviceman. Afterward, he spent 21 years in retail management with the W.T. Grant Corporation and eventually opened his own retail store in Grundy Center, Iowa. He was also a mortgage and loan officer later in his career.

He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Goldsboro Downtown Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Jordan; children, Greg Rodenbeck and Nancy McMillin; sister, Darla; and two grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors is Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, 11:30 a.m. at the Arapahoe Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion and Nebraska National Guard Honor Guard.

A meal and visiting with family is afterwards at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Goldsboro Downtown Lions Club, P.O. Box 1413, Goldsboro, NC 27533.

Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe is in charge of arrangements.
