MCC splits pair of weekend matches

McCOOK, Neb. -- The McCook Community College Lady Indians split a pair of home matches over the weekend. The Lady Indians lost to Otero Junior College, Colo., on Friday before beating Lamar Community College, Colo., on Saturday. MCC is now 14-14 on the season.

Friday saw MCC lose a five-set match 3-2 (17-25, 25-21, 27-25, 19-25, 15-9).

Megan Orth led the Lady Indians with 15 kills, while Dylann Bylund chipped in nine. Ashley Carson had a team-high 23 assists, while libero Jessica Mahan had 19 digs.

As a team, MCC hit just .139 in Friday’s contest.

MCC bounced back with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-20) sweep of Lamar on Saturday.

The Lady Indians were led by Ryan Maddear’s 11 kills, while Orth chipped in 10. Carson continued her good play with 21 assists. Orth and Mahan each had nine digs, while Tristen Trampe led the Lady Indians with four blocks.

As a team, MCC outhit LCC 40-39 and posted a better attack efficiency, going .243 to LCC’s .235.

MCC continues its homestand with a home contest against Northeastern Junior College, Colo., Tuesday at 7 p.m. followed by a match with Southeast Community College on Thursday at 5 p.m.
