McCOOK, Neb. — The new promoter of “Junktoberfest McCook” 2017 plans an expanded array of vendors at the fifth annual market extravaganza of antiques and “junk” that can be transformed into “junctiques.”

Jen Erickson of Omaha said recently she is opening “new avenues for other artisans” to participate in the McCook market scheduled Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Junktoberfest McCook will be on the Red Willow County Fairgrounds located in the 1400 and 1500 blocks of West Fifth Street. Parking for Junktoberfest will be directed to the fairgrounds’ West M entrance to avoid congestion with other activities using the West Fifth and West Q entrances.

Complementing the vendors who offer collectibles, primitives and barn-fresh supplies that can be turned into treasures, Jen is adding artistic, handmade, homemade and craft vendors with end-product merchandise. Jen said vendors this year will include those with already repurposed, upcycled and recycled gems. “I’ve got one vendor who makes jewelry from old spoons,” she said.

“I’m adding boutique style clothing and accessories, highlighting trendy women’s clothing,” Jen said. “Oh, and cosmetics.”

Concessions will be available on the fairgrounds, and will include “Cindy Lou’s” hamburger and hotdog food trailer. Other vendors will offer hot and cold coffees and smoothies, and kettle corn.

An admission fee of $3 will get a wristband for an adult that will be good for both days. Kids 12 and under are admitted free.
