WALLACE, Neb. — The Maywood Hayes-Center Wolves regained their winning ways with a tough 25-17, 21-25, 25-20 victory over Wallace Tuesday evening.

Junior Jayden Widener’s 12 kills powered the Wolves while three teammates put together 10 ace blocks against Wallace hitters.

Senior Rebel Sjecklocha and sophomore Avery Johnson rose to pound stuff blocks each. Senior Grace Koubek added another two at the net.

Johnson and senior Sydney Mullen-Shaw hustled to a dozen digs each which helped fight off Wallace’s potential upset.

Assists were also equally distributed with freshman Jaycee Widener delivering a team-high eight, Koubek seven and sophomore Jaycee Lapp five.

The Wolves (11-4 record) were craving another win after falling in three sets to rival Wauneta-Palisade Thursday evening in Hayes Center.

However, they dropped two 25-22 decisions against a strong Brady team that started Tuesday’s triangular.

Jayden Widner and Sjeklocha both made 20 digs while Johnson drilled a team-high seven kills.

Mullen-Shaw moved another five lethal shots past the Brady defense. Yet it wasn’t enough as those Eagles earned their 11th win of the volleyball season (11-5).

The Wolves will get another shot at Brady in Hayes Center Tuesday evening.
