McCook golfers make top four at Wildhorse

GOTHENBURG, Neb. —Top 10 medalists Holland Stagemeyer and Cassidy Redl led McCook High’s golfers to fourth place among 12 Gothenburg Invite teams on Thursday.

Stagemeyer conquered the Wildhorse course with an 83 which earned eighth place.

Redl was only one stroke off that pace and her 84 helped McCook score a 364 — just two strokes from catching Class A North Platte.

Senior Holly Grigg stepped up to earn 12th with her round of 88 (44 on both nines).

Senior Monique Witt improved by 10 strokes (60 to 50) as the Bison broke away from closest pursuer Broken Bow (377).

Ogallala edged Scottsbluff by one stroke (349 to 350) even though Bearcat Shelby Poynter took home the individual title with her 70.

Senior Kylee Hauxwell also competed for the Bison and shot 116. Cozad, Holdrege and Cambridge were among teams behind McCook.
