WILSONVILLE, Neb. — Glen D. Cox, age 76, of Wilsonville, Neb., passed away at the VA Medical Center in Omaha on Friday, Aug.18, 2017.

Glen was born in Augusta, Kan., on June 27, 1941, to Lloyd and Ester (Combs) Cox. He grew up in Oklahoma.

Glen enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Jan. 29, 1960, and for the next four years, spent most of his career at sea on the USS Hornet, an aircraft carrier. He was honorable discharged on Jan. 6, 1964, in San Diego, Calif.

Glen moved to Colorado to be close to his family. On Sept. 11, 1965, he was united in marriage to Margaret Anderson in Loveland, Colo. Glen and the family lived near Denver. He was employed many places but his love was working as a drywaller and in general contracting. He was a skilled craftsman.

In 1990, Glen and his family moved to Wilsonville. The family owned and ran the Wilsonville Café. Glen served in the capacity a waiter.

Glen enjoyed his retirement. He like to hunt elk in Colorado, fish and outdoor activity was fun for him. He was known to be a practical joker. He enjoyed spending time with friends drinking coffee and keeping up with the news.

He belonged to the Beaver Valley VFW and Wilsonville Lion’s International. Glen served on the city council and was mayor of Wilsonville at one time.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Everett; four brothers, infant, Kenneth, William, Jerry and Jimmy Cox; and sisters, Norma Jean and Opal.

Glen is survived by wife, Margaret; two sons, Rob and wife, Pat Cox and Jack Cox, all of Wilsonville; daughter, Gwen and husband, Jeff Sell of Alma, Neb., eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
