Woman posing as child protective services worker seeks entrance to homes in Omaha, Holdrege

LINCOLN, Neb. — Four reports from Omaha and one from Holdrege of a woman posing as a child protective services employee seeking admission into homes have been received by the Department of Health and Human Services in the last two weeks.

The woman was not given permission to enter the homes after she was unable to provide identification. She stated she wanted to talk to the parent.

“Incidents of people posing as DHHS employees are a serious concern,” said CEO Courtney Phillips. “All DHHS employees carry a state-issued, DHHS photo identification badge and can provide a name and number to call to verify their employment.”

Anyone unsure about the identity of a person claiming to be a DHHS employee should report it to the Adult and Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 1-800-652-1999Call: 1-800-652-1999 to confirm a name and the employee’s phone number. A description of the person and their car and license plate also will help the investigation.
