Donation to football team up for approval

McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook Board of Education will be asked to approve a donation from McCook football coaches for new game pants, at the regular meeting Monday night at the junior high conference room.

The meeting will begin 6:30 p.m. with a public hearing on support, criticism or suggestions from the public on two board policies: parental involvement in schools and student fees. After the public hearing, the board will re-convene as a regular meeting.

As a regular voting item, the board will be asked to approve the donation of $3,540 from McCook football coaches for new game pants for the football team.

According to information included the school board agenda, McCook Senior High football coaches have purchased white Adidas game pants from the Sports Shoppe in McCook and are donating them to the school. The funds were raised by coaching at several camps. The coaches involved are Jeff Gross, Russ Schlager, Jeff Holthus, Richard Smock, Joe Vetrovsky Jake Curl, Matt Berry and Clint Hosick.

Other items up for approval will be the two board policies discussed at the public hearing, as well as:

* approve the 2017-18 option enrollment resolution, that sets the number of students allowed to option into McCook School District from other school districts.

* approve local substitute certificates.

* review and approve board policy on bullying prevention

Earlier in the meeting, under the consent agenda, where items can be approved in one motion unless an item is pulled for discussion and a separate vote, newly revised board policies will be approved. These policies are: copyright of books and other materials, school ceremonies and observations and animals in the classroom

Administrative comments Monday night include those on the new school year information and solar eclipse activities.
