With McCook National Bank’s Seniors just one win from state, what other Class B contenders are on track to joining them at Alliance this weekend?

Area 4: WAHOO — Wahoo blanked MNB, 7-0, in June but the area tourney hosts are facing elimination after losing a 2-1 opener against Pleasant Dale on Thursday.

Pleasant Dale and Seward are undefeated at this seven-team tourney. Wahoo plays Aurora in a survival game today.

Area 7: ALLIANCE — No. 3-seed Alliance controls this area thanks to a 9-1 win over Sidney. No. 1 Chadron and No. 2 Gering play today with the winner needing to beat Alliance twice on Tuesday.

Area 1: AUBURN — No. 1 Nebraska City plated 27 and 12 runs in two playoff wins before the crucial 2-1 win over Hickman on Saturday.

No. 2 Hickman meets Beatrice tonight to decide the other finals spot.

Area 2: SPRINGFIELD — No. 2 Roncalli routed No. 1 Springfield, 17-0, Sunday night to take charge of this title chase.

Lincoln Lutheran, Waverly and Springfield are still alive with one loss apiece.

Area 3: BLAIR — No. 2-seed Blair’s gone 3-0 through York, Elkhorn Mount Michael and No. 1 Waterloo-Valley.

Bennington challenges Blair tonight while Mount Michael and W-V tangle for the other finals spot.

Area 5: WAYNE — No. 2-seed O’Neill owns the inside track to state following an 11-6 win over No. 4 Lakeview Sunday night.

Lakeview had upset No. 1 West Point, 9-8 on Saturday.

Wayne’s also still in the hunt with one loss, playing Lakeview tonight.
