The community of Arapahoe celebrates the Fourth of July — Independence Day and Prairie Pioneer Days — with a red-white-and-blue packed parade Tuesday morning. Darrell Paulson of Edison and other American Legion motorcycle riders saluted the American flag during the opening of the parade, and Brandon Yeager tossed candy from a Holbrook-Edison-Arapahoe fire truck. Meldrick Umahon was one of the “4K for Cancer” runners who ran into Arapahoe and participated in the parade on their way across America (4kforcancer.org). Arapahoe’s July Fourth celebration also included barbecues, baby crawling contests, cardboard boat races, a duck dive, kids’ games and inflatables, the Firecracker 5K Walk/Run, and, of course, fireworks.
