OGALLALA, Neb. — Dennis D. Dahnke passed away on Tuesday June 13, 2017, at his home in Ogallala at the age of 68.

He was born on June 26, 1948, at Stratton, Neb., to Bob and Mary Ellen Dahnke and grew up in the Stratton area. He attended school in Stratton.

Dennis worked at TRW and ASC in Ogallala, retiring after 41 years of employment in 2015. He also worked part-time for Bill Jehorek.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors with family and friends. He was a member of the Ogallala Moose Lodge No. 1624.He volunteered to help with special events at the lodge. He was also a volunteer during the Keith County fair.

He had a love for rodeos, whether it be college, high school or PRCA. He went every chance he got. He loved to dance and liked to watch all kinds of sports. He cleaned water fowl for resident and non – resident hunters. He enjoyed going to the horse races in Grand Island with family.

Preceding him in death were his father, Bob Dahnke and a niece, Crystal Abbott.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Ellen Dahnke of Stratton; three sisters, Kathryn Turpin and husband, Ben of Taylor, Neb., Roberta Hall of Grand Island and Marilyn Bottorf of Marquette, Neb.; along with many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 10 a.m. (MT) at Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala, with burial following at 4 p.m. (CT) at Rosehill Cemetary in Stratton with Dennis Leitner officiating.
