SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — They forged a trail of football carnage through the Nebraska Panhandle last fall.

Now three McCook Bison alums join many of that region’s best players to try for one more gridiron victory Saturday evening.

McCook’s Cade Cappel, Dunncan Rogers and Eric Langan have been selected to play in the West Nebraska All-Star Game at Scottsbluff’s Bearcat Stadium.

Opening kickoff is 7 p.m. MDT or 8 p.m. central.

Chase County lineman Dakota Wallin and 1,000-yard rusher and wrestling state finalist Bryson Fisher will be joining the Bison on this West All-Star team.

Together, they’ll challenge an East All-Star team that includes Medicine Valley “hammer” Brice Hodson along with Southern Valley’s Lucas Lans and Brady Dawson.

Med Valley, Chase County and McCook combined to post a 26-6 record during 2016. All three teams advanced into the state playoffs.

When Bison last played football in the Panhandle, they blitzed through Gering and Sidney by a score of 102-6.

McCook returned home to rout Alliance, 34-0, one week later.

Top players from all those schools and powerhouse Scottsbluff will be playing for the West Saturday evening.

Leyton coach Glen Lipska is leading the West team.

Maxwell coach Ryan Jones directs the East with Holdrege’s Jason Hale assisting.

Several familiar Bison foes will represent the east like Holdrege’s Tyler Buck, Dawson Graham from Gothenburg and Lexington’s Luis Lam.
