CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — Kenneth D. Cole, age 86, passed away Monday, June 5, 2017, at the Cambridge Manor.

Kenneth was born April 28, 1931, to G. Clarence and Mytle Agnes (Nealeigh) Cole in Culbertson. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1948.

On Aug. 7, 1949, he married Marianne Sitzman in Culbertson. To this union five children were born; Kenneth, Connie, Jerry, Marilea and Cathy Jo.

Over the years he worked as a meat inspector with the USDA, owned a grocery store and raised hogs, retiring in 1994.

Kenneth was a member of the United Methodist Church of Indianola and the YMCA in McCook. He enjoyed playing baseball and coaching when his kids were young. He liked to fish, hunt, golf, bowl and work in his vegetable garden. He was an avid sports fan, especially all Husker sports.

Kenneth is survived by children, Kenneth “Butch” D. Cole, Jr. and wife, Mag of McCook, Connie and husband, Bill Wilkinson of Culbertson, Jerry Cole and wife, Babette, of Rapid City, S.D., and Marilea and husband, Jeff Nicholson of Indianola; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; numerous family and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marianne; daughter, Cathy Jo; great-grandson, Daniel Allen; brothers, Orlan Cole, Joe Cole; and sister, Irene Solko.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 7, 2017, from 2 to 8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m., on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at the Trenton Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Lester officiating and burial to follow.
