McCOOK, Neb. — McCook police officers euthanized an ill coyote Monday near the city walking trail.
"The police department received several calls regarding a coyote acting ill and odd along the walking trail near East H Street at 11 a.m. on May 29.
It is not known if the animal was rabid, but it did appear to have severe mange and other health issues," said Chief of Police Isaac Brown in response to questions pertaining to the incident.
Officers responded and euthanized the animal in the interest of public safety, added Chief Brown.
