Nebraska’s best high school athletes from the class of 2017 will dust off their cleats and prepare for North vs. South action during the annual “Nebraska Shrine Football Classic”, airing at 2 p.m. CT, Saturday on NET.

The annual football match-up is broadcast live from Foster Field at the Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at the University of Nebraska at Kearney with sportscaster Larry Punteney calling the play by play, former Husker Damon Benning providing color commentary and former Husker Blake Lawrence with sideline reports.

McCook alums Isaac Larson and Jaret Matson are on the South squad along with Dundy County-Stratton’s Noah Kerchal.

Larson was a leading receiver and defensive back for the 10-2 Bison as they advanced to a fourth straight Class B state semifinal.

Matson excelled defensively and offensively as well.

Kerchal was a key member of Dundy County-Stratton’s successful Eight Man-1 state playoff team.

Leading the charge for the North team will be Mark Hudson of Boone Central, with Matt Turman of Omaha Skutt leading the opposing South team.

The annual gridiron event can also be seen live on the NET website at or via the NET Nebraska App.
