New commissioner

Monday, May 22, 2017

Jacqueline (“Jacque,” pronounced “Jackie”) Riener, left, is sworn in as Red Willow County District 3 commissioner by Clerk Magistrate Gretchen Wiebe, prior to the county commissioners’ weekly meeting in the courthouse in McCook this morning. Riener fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Vesta Dack, who left the board in April due to her husband’s health concerns. Riener will serve through December 2018. She was selected from a slate of seven candidates by county treasurer Sue Wesch, county clerk Tami Teel and county attorney Paul Wood, a committee whose membership was determined by state statute. Riener was sworn in, and at 9 a.m., took her seat at her first commissioners’ meeting with Earl McNutt, representing District 1, and Steve Downer, representing District 2.
