OMAHA, Neb. — A man who was found to have 240 pounds of marijuana in his car after a traffic stop last year was sentenced to three years in federal prison on Friday.

Christopher I. Carrillo, 33, Phoenix, had pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

A Nebraska State Patrol trooper pulled him over for passing a semi in a no-passing zone on U.S. 6-34 west of Culbertson on April 20, 2016.

A Red Willow County sheriff’s dog was taken to the scene and alerted officers to the drugs, packed inside two duffle bags.

U.S. District Judge Robert F. Rossiter Jr. sentenced Carrillo to the prison term, plus three years of supervised release.
