Falcon makes state, Tiger golfers just miss

CRAWFORD, Neb. — Freshman Darian Hutto will represent the Hitchock County Falcons at next week’s Class D state golf tournament in North Platte.

Hutto earned state with a round of 85 in his first high district tournament on Tuesday. He placed seventh overall among golfers from 15 D-5 teams competing.

The Falcons and Dundy County-Stratton Tigers both fell short of qualifying their entire teams.

DC-S finished fourth overall with its 401 team score. The top three teams advance to North Platte’s Lake Maloney Golf Course for state play starting next Tuesday.

Mullen, Garden County and Paxton took the top three D-5 district spots.

Hitchcock County shot 434 for eighth as a team at Crawford’s Legend Buttes Golf Course.

No other Falcon or Tiger individual scores were obtained before today’s Gazette deadline.

The complete team scores: 1. Mullen 361, 2. Garden County 368, 3. Paxton 384, 4. Dundy County-Stratton 401, 4. Creek Valley 401, 6. Crawford 416, 7. South Platte 431, 8. Hitchcock County 434, 9. Morrill 457, 10. Wallace 553. Hay Springs, Hemingford, Hyannis, McPherson County and Potter-Dix did not record team scores.
