Welcome to the chamber

Thursday, May 11, 2017

McCook Area Chamber of Commerce director Jamie Mockry and his assistant Dee Spicer, chamber representatives and the McCook Cordials welcome the ABC Pregnancy Help Center to chamber membership with a ribbon cutting Wednesday afternoon. Mockry told ABC board members, “It takes the whole community working together to help make McCook a better place to live, work and shop.” The ABC Pregnancy Help Center started as a crisis phone line service in 1984. Over the years, it has expanded its mission to offer pregnancy tests and a support system for young women who choose life for their babies. Volunteer staff members offer programs to teach parenting skills, life skills and values. The crisis phone line — (308) 350-0126 — continues today. Office hours are 4-5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday. For more information on services and volunteering, call (308) 350-0126. The help center is located in Suite 26 of the Merritt Building at 110 West C in downtown McCook. Helping ABC board president Willetta Bieker cut the ribbon are, from the left, ABC board members Sherri Dack (treasurer), Joni Knoll and Elizabeth Cuellar, Mockery, (Bieker), Spicer, ABC board member Zona Fritz, McCook Cordials representatives Jill Geisler, Dee Friehe and Terri Skolout, and ABC board vice president Kathy Mabile.
