No board action following closed session

McCOOK, Neb. — Red Willow County commissioners took no action following a closed session with the Hillcrest Nursing Home administrator during their weekly meeting Monday morning.

Colinda Nappa, administrator of the county-owned nursing home, commissioners Earl McNutt and Steve Downer and county attorney Paul Wood discussed personnel issues during the 25-minute-long session that was closed to the public.

The county board is operating with two members until a replacement for District 3 commissioner Vesta Dack can be selected and seated after interviews with candidates Wednesday evening. Dack resigned April 17 because she and her husband, Dean, need to live closer to Dean’s doctors in North Platte.

In other action Monday morning:

* Merritt Koehn of Frenchman Valley Co-Op explained his company’s oil products for use in the county’s road machinery and offered oil sampling by an independent lab that can indicate, among other things, metals, contaminants, dirt, additives, soot and fuel in the oil.

* Commissioners heard from Brad Swiggert of Northwestern Mutual and Dennis Maggart of the Nebraska Association of County Officials regarding the county’s employee health insurance. A decision by commissioners on health insurance coverage was to be the agenda topic at 11:30 a.m.
