STOCKVILLE, Neb. — Two Maywood and Curtis men are guilty of sexual assault felonies following a sentencing in McCook and a trial in Stockville this month.

District Judge David Urbom has sentenced Terry L. Tobiasson of Maywood to five to seven years in prison on each of two counts of sexual assault of a child. Tobiasson entered guilty pleas in February.

The Frontier County Enterprise newspaper reports that Tobiasson is to serve the two sentences concurrently, with a minimum sentence of 30 months. He received credit for 149 days already served in the Frontier County jail. Tobiasson will also be required to register as a sex offender.

Following a nearly week-long trial in Stockville that ended Tuesday evening, Shawn Standiford of Curtis, 38 years old, was found guilty of two counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child and an additional count of child abuse, all Class 3A felonies. Standiford could face a maximum of up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine on each count.

Standiford was arrested in March 2015.

State of Nebraska Assistant Attorneys General Bill Tangeman and Jason Bergevin prosecuted the case. The Frontier County Sheriff’s Office and Investigator Kerry Crosby with the Nebraska Department of Justice investigated the case, and Ellen Reilly with the Nebraska Department of Justice coordinated victim/witness assistance.

The Attorney General’s office reports that Standiford will be sentenced June 13 at 11:30 a.m., at the courthouse in Stockville.
