Coaches changing at McCook High School

McCook Senior High School Activities Director Darin Nichols is proud to announce the hiring of Amy Scheil as the Head Coach of the McCook Bison Girls Basketball team.

Amy has 20 years of experience in the field of education.

She will teach Physical Education and Health classes at McCook High School.

Coach Scheil has led her basketball teams from Davenport (91-95) and Ashland Greenwood (95-09) to the Nebraska State Basketball tournament 10 times in her career. In addition, she served as Head Softball coach

At Ashland Greenwood, Sheil led her teams to the State tournament in 9 of the 13 years she coached them. She will assist the Lady Bison Softball program as well. Amy is a graduate of Concordia University, and has a Masters from Peru State.

Scheil is a highly talented teacher/coach who is looking forward to developing, motivating, and instilling in her student athletes a team-oriented concept. Amy is skilled in evaluating players, creating a positive learning environment and working to build a successful program.

According to reports, previous Bison girls coach Scott Leisy resigned and is returning to his home area for his next coaching and teaching opportunities.
