ARAPAHOE, Neb. — James Kenneth Hines, 96, of Arapahoe, died Monday (April 17, 2017), at C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.

He was born Nov. 30, 1920, in Furnas County, Neb., to John and Nellie (Mayo) Hines. He graduated from Beaver City High School in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946.

On May 18, 1947, James married Geneva Martin of Beaver City, Neb. He worked for the city of Holbrook, Neb., as city manager and for Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege, Neb., until retiring in 1985.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geneva; and sisters, Nellie and Helen Geneava.

He is survived by his children, Nancy Dickmeyer, Linda Pearson and husband, Steve, and Kenneth Hines and wife, Rae; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Viewing and visitation is Wednesday, April 19, 2017, 9:30 a.m. at Wenburg Funeral Chapel in Arapahoe.

Funeral services are Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., at Wenburg Funeral Chapel of Arapahoe, with Rev. Becky Saddler officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Beaver City.
