Tree Care Workshop set April 25 in McCook

McCOOK, Neb. — UNL Extension and the Nebraska Forest Service plan a tree care workshop Tuesday, April 25, at 8 a.m., on the Red Willow County fairgrounds in the 1400 block of West Fifth and in the fairgrounds 4-H Building meeting room.

Nebraska Forest Service community forestry specialist Amy Seiler of Gering, Neb., will discuss specifically drought concerns and tree problems, as well as these topics:

* Tree selections for Southwest Nebraska: choosing drought-tolerant, sustainable trees.

* Tree diseases, insects and drought.

* Proper tree planting, location and care.

* Tree pruning basics.

If bad, rainy weather occurs, all of the sessions of the workshop will take place in the 4-H

Building meeting room.

There is no charge to attend the workshop, but registration is required; call the Red Willow County Extension office at (308) 345-3390.
