Indian soaring to become Eagle

Thursday, April 13, 2017

Record-setting McCook Community College volleyball player Alijahnae Springs signed a letter of intent to continue her career with the Chadron State College Eagles. Many McCook teammates were there to support Springs and celebrate her reaching the NCAA Divison II level. Springs transferred from Tyler (Texas) Junior College into McCook, where she excelled as coach Hayley Kobza’s first MCC recruit. She set a new Indian volleyball record with 380 kills which ranked fourth in Region IX and 20th nationally. She joined her teammates in helping McCook improve from two wins during 2015 to eight last fall, including five for the home fans at McCook’s Peter & Dolores Graff Events Center. “She was a big part of our team,” Kobza confirmed. Springs earned All-Region IX honors along with Division I junior college first-team honors from the Omaha World-Herald. She also earned a spot on the Neosho (Kan.) College all-tournament team.
