BENKELMAN Neb. — Richard Clarence Alba passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Kearney Regional Hospital. He was 67 years old.

Richard was born May 3, 1949, in Goodland, Kan., to Henry Salvador and Alice (Krutsinger) Alba. He graduated from Anaheim, Calif., in 1968. On April 29, 1969, Richard was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in light weapons infantry until he was honorably discharged on Jan. 26, 1971.

He worked for AT&T for 33 years as a lineman. On Dec. 16, 2010, he married Linda F. Chisam in Benkelman.

He liked to spend time with his horses and his dog was very special to him. He was an avid gun collector and he liked to do leather work in his free time.

Richard was a member of the NRA, the Benkelman Legion Post No. 65 and the VFW.

Richard is survived by his wife, Linda; son, David Alba of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Christel Brandon of Savannah, Ga.; sister, Karen Bremer of Las Vegas, Nev.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents.

Graveside memorial services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the Benkelman Cemetery.
