McCook Central Elementary fourth graders Braeden Gale, left, and Tyler Travis knock an Easter egg from a tree on the playground Monday afternoon. Julie Rippen’s students were preparing for a state test in reading, and she stuffed plastic eggs with reading questions. Students had to find each egg, answer the question and rehide the egg. “It’s a fun way to practice their reading skills,” Mrs. Rippen said. Braeden’s and Tyler’s green-egg question dealt with the meaning of the word “challenge” in a sentence about the challenges of flying a spring kite.
